Shaping Regulatory Policy at the Local, State and Federal Level
August 7 – 9:00 am to 9:45 am
Plaza Court 2/3
AI systems have been embraced by local and state governments at unprecedented scale. People across the world are recognizing the potential that AI will bring to the economy and public sector and governments have begun the process of creating regulatory frameworks to address AI’s usage and implementation. But how do you build frameworks around issues such as data privacy, cybersecurity, bias, and transparency – while recognizing that these tools are both here to stay and also important elements of improving customer service? How do you allow innovation and allow AI’s usage but to consider both the opportunities and risks posed by this new technology?
This session will discuss the local, state and federal policies being considered – and adopted – in the AI space and how attendees can help shape the regulatory and policy process around AI regulations. There are opportunities across the country to participate in the regulatory and legislative process around AI to ensure regulatory frameworks meet community needs on privacy, security and transparency and also encourage innovation.
