Massachusetts Broadband Institute: Director of Program Development

Josh Eichen is the Director of Program Development at the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI). Josh manages the State’s $75M Broadband Innovation Fund, $22M Residential Retrofit Capital Projects Fund, and is leading the Statewide Digital Equity Plan. An Urban Planner by trade, Josh moved into the Digital Equity arena while at the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, the Regional Planning Agency for the Boston Metro area. In the early days of the pandemic, Josh saw a critical need to support municipal staff and local organizations to understand how to close the digital divide. As a direct response to this need, Josh led the state’s first regional Digital Access and Equity Plan with the cities of Chelsea, Everett, and Revere and coordinated the deployment of funds to support public housing residents access free, no subscription internet.

Josh continues that work in his role at MBI.

Josh is also an avid skateboarder, musician, and cargo bike enthusiast!
