SHLB Coalition: Founder and Executive Director
John Windhausen, Jr. is the founder and Executive Director of the Schools, Health & Libraries Broadband (SHLB) Coalition based in Washington, DC. The SHLB Coalition is a non-profit, public interest advocacy organization with over 275 members from across the U.S. Our mission is to promote open, affordable, high-quality broadband services for anchor institutions and their communities. Prior to working for SHLB, Mr. Windhausen served as staff counsel for the U. S. Senate Commerce Committee, where he was one of the key drafters the Telecommunications Act of 1996. He began his career as a staff attorney at the Federal Communications Commission in 1984. He has a B.A. from Yale University and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law.
