Jessica Sankus

California State Association of Counties: Principal Fiscal and Policy Analyst

Jessica Sankus is passionate about good governance and responsible allocation of public resources. She is the Principal Fiscal and Policy Analyst with the California State Association of Counties (CSAC), where she provides analysis on issues affecting California local government finance and emerging issues. Jessica leads CSAC’s initiative to develop policies to guide local government use of artificial intelligence that is secure, ethical, effective, and responsible. Previously, Jessica served as fiscal policy advisor for Governor Jerry Brown and Governor Gavin Newsom at the California Department of Finance, where she promoted long-term economic sustainability for the State’s health and human services programs. As Chair of the Sacramento County Human Services Coordinating Council, she leads an advisory body to the County Board of Supervisors on matters relating to health and human services program planning and policy issues. Jessica is the director of curriculum for the Sacramento Chapter of the New Leaders Council, an organization dedicated to training the next generation of leaders by providing rigorous, skill-based training focused on building advocacy, organizing, and fundraising skills.
