Northwest Colorado Council of Governments: Regional Broadband Director

Nate Walowitz is an innovative telecommunications and technology program executive serving as the Regional Broadband Program Director for the Northwest Colorado Council of Governments (NWCCOG). Since 2014, his broadband technical advisory services to local governments resulted in the deployment of broadband services in numerous unserved and underserved communities across Colorado. In 2019, Mr. Walowitz created and launched Project THOR, a publicly owned, open access middle mile transport network. The Project THOR cooperative network has brought over 400G of resilient fiber connectivity to rural communities across 10 counties in NW Colorado. Project THOR supports broadband deployments, mission critical public safety communications, government, education and healthcare services, commercial users and ISPs. Prior to NWCCOG, Mr. Walowitz spent years consulting in public safety and public wireless network standards, integration, and deployments. He has also worked with numerous fiber and other wired technology deployments. Mr. Walowitz began his career in telecommunications with world-class organizations including Southwestern Bell and Avant-Garde Computing.
