Chris Hyer is the Economic Development Manager for Santa Fe County in New Mexico. He has worked in local government all his career and is a member of several public entity boards including REDI Net. His degrees are in economics and his background is in working on the economic side of making communities healthier. He spent 17 years with the City of Albuquerque working in the Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency bringing new life to dilapidated properties by creating public-private partnerships specific for the properties redevelopment. This led to working in smaller communities where the potential to see the impact of his efforts is much greater. This is especially true with promoting the expansion of broadband in all communities, but especially in the rural areas surrounding larger towns and cities. He believes that broadband is instrumental in seeing growth and an increase in the quality of life.
