Many push-to-talk-over-cellular (PoC) services provide high-quality services when users can leverage a broadband network, and dedicated bandwidth from FirstNet and commercial systems that deliver priority/preemption should only enhance their effectiveness. But what happens when a broadband connection is not available? Learn about the limitations and status of the 3GPP Proximity Services (ProSe) standard, as well as alternatives—from deployable systems and LTE backpacks to LMR technologies—that are being developed to address the need to ensure that users can communicate with each other when the primary LTE network is unavailable.
