It’s the Right Thing to Do: How to use Power-over-Ethernet Technology to Create Future-Ready Schools

August 11 – 9:30 am to 10:15 am
Quandary Peak 1

Tim Miles

Steamboat Springs & South Routt School District: Technology Director

Future-proofing school spaces for the digital age comes down to three letters – P.O.E.

Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE) technology is enabling school districts to create state-of-the-art learning environments easily adaptable to the future. Acting as a “digital ceiling” for all things IoT infrastructure, PoE readies schools for easy, fast and cost-effective integration of student-centric technology – even tech not yet imagined.

In this session, attendees will learn the basics of PoE and experience the ins-and-outs of early use cases, such as lighting, sensors, access controls, HVAC and more.

Join these technology veterans as they share real-world, proven benefits of PoE like low maintenance, improved learning environments and reduced energy usage. The speakers will also show how Steamboat Springs School District’s is using PoE in its newest school, what it took to get there and how Miles overcame objections to successfully implement the technology, catapulting Steamboat Springs into a position of enviable innovation.
