Project THOR and other regional government owned networks are changing the availability, affordability, and reliability of broadband access across Colorado. First connected in July 2019 and formally launched in April 2020, Project Thor continues to add communities and community anchors to the network. The network has grown its local broadband infrastructure and created relationships between governments, last mile broadband service providers, Rural Electric Coops, state agencies, educational institutions, healthcare providers and commercial industry. These efforts have led to economic development, brings reliable broadband services to new communities who were limited in service provider options, and created a reliable emergency fiber partnership between NWCCOG, Grand County, Estes Park and Northern Front Range communities.
