Nokia: Vice President of Broadband Policy & Funding Strategy

Disasters happen. During the last couple of decades, Colorado alone has experienced severe weather events such as floods, fires and tornados that significantly impacted or took down major communications systems. Most recently, the Colorado communities of Superior and Louisville were devastated by fires combined with winds exceeding 100mph that destroyed over 1000 homes with no warning. Focusing on what happened in Boulder County, this General Session will cover lessons learned, best practices for communities to improve their preparedness, and strategies on how to respond quickly in future disasters. The session will also discuss the idea of developing a statewide or regional telecom working group as well as delve into state, federal, legislative and regulatory solutions.
