Director of Fiber Infrastructure, City of Centennial
Tim has spent most of his career in the IP networking industry having enjoyed many years with Cisco Systems across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. With Cisco, Tim led various regional teams across the Emerging Markets and specialized predominately in the adoption of new technologies across the region.
Tim’s passion for IP based technologies and community broadband solutions brought him to the US, where he became Vice President and led for five years PacketFront’s Business Development and Sales activities across community, regional, and alternative carrier broadband markets.
Tim spent the last 5 years working primarily on the deployment and successful operation of complex Next Generation Network fiber builds, with the deployment of fiber infrastructure projects typically involving State and/or local Government participation, both internationally and across the US. This background included the build out and successful operations of the BTOP funded “middle mile” project in Western Massachusetts known as the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MB123) fiber network infrastructure, connecting 123 towns and over a 1000 anchor institutions, with the build out of a new 1100 mile fiber infrastructure and the support of multiple carrier customers.
Tim has continued exploring various fiber deployment opportunities, supporting Allied Fiber’s build out of a new fiber infrastructure in the SE and providing market education to Government, Education and Healthcare sectors. Tim is passionate that fiber infrastructure can lead to, develop, and further sustain local economic development across communities in Florida and Georgia that connect to the Allied Fiber backbone and neutral colocation facilities.
Recently Tim accepted a role with the City of Centennial, CO, to plan and deploy their new backbone, fiber infrastructure which will connect to some City anchor institutions and provide a platform for further economic development across the City.
Tim resides in Colorado but hails from Ireland where he graduated from the University of Ulster with an Honors degree in Business Studies.
