Special Projects Director, Northeast BOCES
Arlene Salyards serves as the Special Projects Director for the Northeast Colorado BOCES. The NE BOCES is comprised of 12 member districts in the northeast corner of the state. These districts participate in a variety of services that include special education, professional development, teacher preparation, federal grants, Distance Learning, E-rate and other initiatives as dictated by the member districts.
Arlene has worked for the Northeast Colorado BOCES for sixteen years. The Wide Area Virtual Education System (WAVES) was established throughout the BOCES consortium in 2007. The WAVES network provides districts the opportunity to share teaching resources, receive professional development, and provides learning opportunities for students that may not exist in-district.
As the BOCES Director of Special Projects, Arlene also participates in professional organizations that provide knowledge of new services, trends and reporting requirements within education. Arlene currently participates in the Colorado Education Broadband Coalition (CEBC) and the Colorado Association of Leaders in Educational Technology (CALET) to build capacity for rural districts in Colorado.
